This year, with the aim of ratifying their commitment to communities, Hostelco and the Alimentaria trade show (both run by Fira de Barcelona) will once again be the main sponsors of the Congreso de Restauración Colectiva, CRC 2019 (Collective Catering Congress, CCC 2019), organized each year by the digital publication titled www.restauracioncolectiva.com. CCC 2019 is the only event devoted exclusively to the social catering sector in Spain, and it will be held in Barcelona on 5th November under the slogan “Communities as drivers of change”, with sustainability, human resources and leadership as the programme’s chore themes.
In its five years of existence, the Collective Catering Congress has established itself as the leading domestic meeting point and a forum for debate for professionals in the field of communities. The upcoming congress will bring together more than 20 renowned social catering professionals and experts, who will emphasize the need to apply sustainability criteria to all the processes that characterize the sector.
Other key issues such as leadership, human capital, employer branding and training will also be covered during the event’s plenary meetings and panel discussions, with the aim of highlighting the potential of a sector that employs more than 200,000 people.
It will be attended by Xavier Marcet, president of Lead to Change, Roser Bonancia, director of Human Resource Development at Serunion, Nan Ferreras, director of the CETT Catering School, Antoni Llorens, president of FEADRS, Daniel Bassas, director of BioBio, the concessionary company that provides services at the Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital in Andorra, Antoni Aguiló, president of REUS, the Spanish Network of Healthy Universities, and professor of Public Health at the University of the Balearic Islands, and Felipe Celis, chef and professor of the degree course in Culinary and Gastronomic Sciences on the CETT-UB Campus, together with other experts and professionals from the sector.
According to event organizer Ana Turón, “Social and collective catering are significant creators of jobs in our country and, in turn, they have a daily and direct influence on thousands of people of all ages. We’re grateful to Hostelco and Alimentaria for their ongoing commitment to this event, which continues its powerful promotion of knowledge and the exchange of ideas and experiences within the sector”.
Hostelco supports collective catering
The forthcoming Hostelco trade fair will showcase a wide range of equipment and machinery for social catering and conduct parallel activities related to communities. In this regard, Hostelco director Mar Santarrufina declares that “throughout its history, Hostelco has demonstrated its firm commitment to communities, a sector which, despite its poor visibility, plays a vitally important role in society and also accounts for a very significant part of the equipment business. We’re proud to endorse the holding of CCC 2019 and we’ll continue to support the communities at the trade fair, not only with our offer but also with specific activities”.
Thus, at the next Hostelco Awards, the leading Spanish catering equipment event will present the prize for the “Best collective catering project” to the organization that has implemented a successful model or carried out an innovative project in its business, strategy or renewal. It will also present the “Best kitchen project” award to the company that has assembled an efficient, accessible and sustainable kitchen, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technological solutions”. Collective catering will also feature in the space known as “The Experience – Live Gastronomy by Alimentaria & HOSTELCO”, which will host cooking shows sessions and gastronomic workshops.
Hostelco, organized by Fira de Barcelona and the FELAC (The Spanish Federation of Associations of Equipment Manufacturers for the Hospitality and Related Industries), will be held with Alimentaria from 20th to 23rd April 2020. The two fairs will occupy practically all Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue, in other words, a net surface area totalling around 110,000 m2. The joint holding of Hostelco and Alimentaria will once again constitute one of the largest international platforms for the food industry, gastronomy and catering equipment, as it will display the most comprehensive and cross-cutting range of products in the domestic and international markets to both the distribution chain and the horeca channel.
