The Art.Made collection applies Italo Calvino’s 6 literary values to tableware: lightness, responsiveness, exactitude, visibility, multiplicity and consistency
Literary beauty applied to the art of plating
In the world of haute cuisine and hotel dinner services, food plating has become increasingly important as a way to enhance dishes to make them pop, reflecting the aesthetics, concepts and values of those who create them, as well as the spaces in which they are served, becoming an art in and of itself.
As part of the demanding haute cuisine tradition, and to meet the fundamental needs of the hospitality industry, at HOSTELCO Vista Alegre presents its new Art.Made collection, featuring tableware inspired by the work of writer Italo Calvino and his ‘Six Memos for the Next Millennium’, a compilation of six lectures that the author planned to give at Harvard University in 1985, before his death. Art.Made embraces the six literary values that the author considered essential, and applies them to each piece of this tableware: lightness, responsiveness, exactitude, visibility, multiplicity and consistency.
Art.Made is synonymous with the art of plating, but also with the act of creation. Just as an extraordinary dish is experienced uniquely by each person savouring it, each piece in the collection is also unique, having been meticulously designed and handcrafted with passion and care.
The origin of the collection is completely handcrafted work boasting the distinctive imprint of Vista Alegre’s master sculptors, as nearly 200 years of experience give rise to bold, contemporary designs backed by the latest manufacturing techniques.
